From Peace Corps swearing-in and training in Ourzazate to a USAID workshop in Rabat to a CDRT (Center for Development of Tensift Region) meeting in Marrakech, in the past week, Alex and I have been hopping all over Morocco. Now that we're back in Timzgida with our new USB dial-up modem, we can give some updates about how we're getting down to business. Amongst looking for houses to rent, finding a French language tutor, obtaining a Carte de Sjour (like work visa), establishing a P.O. box, studying Tashlhiyt, completing Peace Corps paperwork, reviewing Tissilt Association project documents, integrating into our local community, and figuring out/implementing all of these new development tools; we've been pretty busy. Fortunately, we feel very well supported, and surprisingly, we've had very few misunderstandings with our partners, counterparts, and host family. In a word...Awesome!
We'll be helping the Tissilt Association move into their new big office this week, and we hope to take some pictures to show you where we'll be working.
Best,
Jonathan
